Caregiver Nabbed for Theft of Firearm in Cebu City

A 25-year-old caregiver was arrested after allegedly stealing a firearm from a security agency on Sikatuna Street corner Bonifacio Street, Cebu City, on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Suspect Identified

The suspect, identified only as alias “Harry,” is a bachelor originally from the municipality of Daanbantayan but currently residing at the office of the security company.

Investigation Details

According to the investigation by the Parian Police Station, a certain alias Jose, the area coordinator of the company, personally reported the incident to the police after being informed by a colleague.

Employees discovered that the office door was already open on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. Upon checking, a Norinco 9mm pistol that was inside a cabinet was missing.

On Monday evening, May 25, past 11:00 p.m., alias Harry admitted that he was the one who took the firearm. As a result, he was immediately arrested and turned over to the police.

Suspect's Confession

When questioned by the police, the suspect confessed that he stole the weapon to sell it and send the proceeds to his parents.

Recovered from the suspect's possession was a brown paper bag containing the firearm, along with two magazines and 30 live bullets.

The suspect is currently detained at the Parian Police Station and will be charged with qualified theft.
