A super typhoon currently outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is forecast to enter by Wednesday, but fair weather is expected on Sunday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Weather Outlook for Sunday
On Sunday, most parts of the country will experience fair weather, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms possible in the afternoon or evening. PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said that the easterlies will bring warm and humid conditions, particularly over Luzon and Visayas.
No tropical cyclone wind signals are hoisted, and no gale warning is in effect for any seaboards, making it safe for sea travel.
Super Typhoon Track
PAGASA is monitoring a super typhoon located east of the country, which may strengthen further as it moves west-northwestward. It is expected to enter PAR on Wednesday, around 1,500 kilometers east of Northern Luzon. Once inside PAR, it will be given a local name.
Estareja noted that the super typhoon is still far from landmass and will not directly affect any part of the country in the next few days. However, it may enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat) later in the week, bringing rains over western sections of Luzon.
Long-Range Forecast
By next week, the super typhoon may begin to influence weather patterns. PAGASA advises the public to stay updated on the latest advisories as the storm approaches. The agency also reminded that the country is still in the rainy season, and sudden weather changes are possible.
