Cebu Surgical Missions Benefit 639 Residents in February 2026

Cebu Province's February 2026 Medical Missions Serve 639 Residents

Cebu Province has successfully conducted a series of surgical and community medical missions during the first half of February 2026, providing essential healthcare services to a total of 639 residents. This initiative, organized in collaboration with multiple healthcare partners, aimed to address the pressing medical needs of Sugboanon communities while continuing to enhance the provincial hospital system.

Major Surgical Operations at Cebu Provincial Hospital-Carcar

According to Capitol Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan, the surgical mission commenced from February 9 to 12 at Cebu Provincial Hospital-Carcar, where medical professionals performed 69 major operations. The four-day intensive surgical program included a comprehensive range of procedures designed to treat various conditions affecting residents.

The surgical interventions encompassed:

  • Gynecologic surgeries
  • Laparoscopic gallbladder removal procedures
  • Hernia repair operations
  • Goiter removal surgeries
  • Ear, nose, and throat operations
  • Excision of cysts and other growths
  • Procedures for hemorrhoids, fistula, and breast conditions

Expanded Community Medical Missions

Simultaneously, additional medical missions were conducted from February 11 to 14, serving 624 patients across various localities within the province. These community-based healthcare services provided diagnostic consultations, basic treatments, and follow-up care to residents who might otherwise have limited access to medical attention.

The Provincial Health Office emphasized that these missions were implemented to provide relief for the healthcare needs of Sugboanon residents while ongoing improvements continue within the hospital system infrastructure. By bringing specialized medical services directly to communities, the province aims to bridge healthcare accessibility gaps and improve overall public health outcomes.

Collaborative Healthcare Partnerships

The successful execution of these medical missions was made possible through strategic partnerships with several healthcare organizations. The initiatives were carried out in cooperation with the West Coast Surgical Mission Society, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, and Healthway Cebu Velez General Hospital.

This collaborative approach demonstrates how public-private partnerships can effectively expand healthcare delivery in provincial areas. The involvement of multiple institutions allowed for a diverse range of medical expertise and resources to be deployed, ensuring comprehensive care for beneficiaries across different medical specialties.

The February 2026 medical missions represent a significant step forward in Cebu Province's commitment to improving healthcare accessibility for all residents. By combining surgical interventions with community-based medical services, the province has created a model for addressing both immediate medical needs and long-term health system development simultaneously.
