Coast Guard Ramp Up Maritime Safety Operations in Davao Ahead of Holy Week
The Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSEM) has significantly intensified its maritime safety operations across the Davao Region in preparation for the upcoming Holy Week observance. As part of Oplan Byaheng Ayos: Semana Santa 2026, a total of 939 personnel have been deployed to seven stations and 51 substations throughout the region. This strategic move is designed to guarantee the safety, security, and convenience of travelers during this peak travel period, which sees a substantial increase in maritime activity.
Heightened Alert and Comprehensive Monitoring
Under the directives of Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan PCG (CPCG), the Coast Guard has placed all ports, ferry terminals, and coastal areas under heightened alert. The deployed personnel are responsible for conducting round-the-clock monitoring, strictly enforcing maritime safety regulations, providing assistance to passengers, and coordinating closely with local government units and partner agencies. This comprehensive approach ensures that all aspects of maritime travel are covered, from departure to arrival.
Strict Inspections and Emergency Readiness
The operation includes rigorous vessel inspections to verify compliance with safety standards, the establishment of passenger assistance desks to aid travelers, and enhanced emergency response readiness to address any potential contingencies. The CGDSEM has reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining order in all maritime transportation hubs during this period of heightened travel activity. This proactive stance aims to prevent incidents and ensure a smooth travel experience for everyone.

Through Oplan Byaheng Ayos, the Coast Guard demonstrates its commitment not only to enforcing maritime regulations but also to ensuring a safe, orderly, and convenient travel experience for all passengers during the Semana Santa period.
