The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has officially announced the resumption of voter registration activities across the Philippines following the Holy Week observance. After a temporary suspension, all registration services will recommence on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Registration Timeline and Suspension Details
In a recent social media statement, the Comelec confirmed that voter registration operations remain suspended until Sunday, April 5, 2026, to respect the Holy Week period. The poll body emphasized its participation in the national observance, aligning its schedule with the religious break.
"Regular office transactions will resume on April 7, 2026 (Tuesday)," declared the Comelec, marking the official restart date for all electoral services.
Work Arrangements and Additional Measures
Beyond the Holy Week suspension, the Commission has implemented a work-from-home policy for all Mondays throughout April 2026, including April 6. This initiative forms part of broader energy-saving and cost-cutting strategies adopted by the agency.
The Comelec specifically noted that "voter registration and issuance of voter's certification are suspended on these dates," ensuring public awareness of the temporary service halts.
Current Registration Statistics and Period
According to the latest data, the Comelec has received an impressive 3,602,534 applications for voter registration across all regions from October 20, 2025, to March 28, 2026. This substantial figure highlights ongoing public engagement in the electoral process.
The nationwide voter registration period, excluding the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), began on October 20, 2025, and is scheduled to continue until May 18, 2026. This extended timeframe provides ample opportunity for eligible citizens to register and participate in upcoming elections.
With the Holy Week break concluded, the Comelec is poised to resume its critical democratic functions, facilitating voter enrollment and certification across the country.
