Five Bouncers Detained in Mandaue After Hospital Arrest for Security Violations
In a significant legal development, five bouncers were apprehended at the Mandaue City Hall of Justice on Friday, February 13, 2026, following inquest proceedings. The arrest stemmed from an incident at a hospital in the North Reclamation Area, where authorities suspected the individuals were acting as security escorts for hit-and-run suspect Sean Andrew Pajarillo.
Defense Claims Misunderstanding in Hospital Visit
However, the defense team for Pajarillo has strongly refuted these allegations. Attorney Nodger Jude Dalman, one of Pajarillo's defense counsels, clarified that the five men were not hired security personnel. According to Dalman, they were merely ordinary acquaintances or family friends who visited Pajarillo at the hospital to offer support during his medical treatment.
Dalman emphasized that no weapons were confiscated from his clients at the time of their arrest, challenging the basis of the security-related charges. Despite these explanations, law enforcement proceeded with the detention based on initial suspicions.
Police Action and Legal Consequences
The arrest was carried out on Thursday by the Regional Civil Security Unit 7 and the Mandaue City Police Office inside the hospital cafeteria. Investigations revealed that the individuals worked as nightclub bouncers but lacked valid licenses to operate as security personnel, a requirement under Philippine law.
Currently, the five bouncers remain detained at Mandaue City Police Station 2. They are facing formal charges for violating Republic Act 11917, also known as the Private Security Services Industry Act, which regulates the private security industry and mandates proper licensing for such roles.
This case highlights ongoing efforts by authorities to enforce security regulations and prevent unauthorized activities in sensitive environments like hospitals. The legal proceedings are expected to continue as both sides present their arguments in court.
