Marie Ernestine School Wins Robotics Olympiad After Crash

The Marie Ernestine School team staged a remarkable comeback to win the Elementary RoboMission category at the 25th Philippine Robotics Olympiad held at SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City. The team, composed of fifth graders Karelle Jaine Rosario, Kean Benedict D. Sabordo, and Seth Kzyler Charles A. Veloso, will now represent the Philippines at the upcoming World Robotics Olympiad.

Preliminary Rounds

The team faced tough competition from 48 teams across the Philippines. They advanced to the finals after scoring 205 points in the first round and 244 points in the second round of the preliminaries.

Finals Challenge

In the first round of the finals, the team scored zero after their robot suddenly crashed due to a wiring problem. Despite the setback, the team rallied in the second round, where their robot delivered a “perfect performance,” achieving the maximum 255 points in the shortest time, securing their victory.

Team Reaction

According to the team, their success was the result of guidance from their coach and the full support of the Marie Ernestine robotics family.
