Lapu-Lapu City Enhances Emergency Services with New Motorcycle Fleet
In a significant move to bolster public safety, Lapu-Lapu City has distributed 40 motorcycle units to frontline agencies and selected barangays, aiming to accelerate emergency response times and enhance patrol efficiency. The handover ceremony, led by Mayor Cindi King-Chan, took place on Monday, February 16, 2026, following a regular flag-raising event at the City Hall grounds.
Strategic Distribution for Improved Operations
The initiative targets multiple key areas: increasing police visibility, ensuring rapid emergency interventions, strengthening traffic management, and boosting barangay-level operations across the city. Mayor Chan emphasized the importance of accountability and professionalism in utilizing these government assets during her address.
"Use these motorcycles with discipline, integrity, and a sense of urgency," she stated. "Every patrol and response should reflect professionalism and dedication to public safety. Our goal remains clear: a safe, orderly, and responsive Lapu-Lapu City for every Oponganon."
Recipients of the Motorcycle Units
The distribution prioritized barangays recognized with the Seal of Good Local Governance, including:
- Barangay Basak
- Barangay Calawisan
- Barangay Caw-oy
- Barangay Punta Engaño
- Barangay Subabasbas
Additionally, the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) received allocations as follows:
- Police Station 1: three units
- Stations 2, 3, 4, and 5: five units each
The City Traffic and Management System (CTMS) was provided with eight motorcycle units to support its operations.
