Authorities in Zamboanga Sibugay have initiated a proactive campaign to ensure public safety during the holiday season by inspecting firecracker vendors across the province.
Police Director Leads On-Site Inspection
On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, Police Colonel Barnard Daniel Dasugo, the provincial police director of Zamboanga Sibugay, took a hands-on approach. He personally visited and examined firecracker sellers operating in Poblacion village, Titay. The inspection aimed to verify the legitimacy and safety compliance of all vendors in the area.
Ensuring Compliance with Safety Laws
The operation is a strict implementation of Republic Act 7183, the law that regulates the sale, manufacture, and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices in the Philippines. Colonel Dasugo emphasized that the primary goal is to check if all vendors possess complete documents and valid permits.
"The purpose of the inspection is to ensure that all vendors have complete documents and valid permits, and strictly comply with the guidelines set by law to maintain public order, safety, and security," Dasugo stated. This initiative is a key component of the broader Ligtas Paskuhan (Safe Holiday Season) 2025 program.
Commitment to a Peaceful Celebration
Through these rigorous inspections, the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office demonstrates its commitment to safeguarding the community. Colonel Dasugo explained that the activity is designed to protect both sellers and buyers, ensuring that the celebrations for Christmas and the New Year remain safe and peaceful for everyone involved.
The police force remains vigilant in monitoring the market to prevent the sale of illegal or substandard pyrotechnics, which are common causes of injuries and fires during the festive period.
