Police arrested two suspects in the killing of a 37-year-old Korean national whose body was found in an abandoned vehicle in General Tinio, Nueva Ecija. The suspects, identified as the gunman and a female accomplice, were taken into custody on June 19 following an intensive investigation.
Police Investigation Details
In a press conference at Camp Crame, Central Luzon Police Regional Office Director Brigadier General Jess Mendez said the arrests were made possible through intensive gathering, CCTV backtracking, forensic examination, and coordinated operations among various police units. The female suspect allegedly owed the victim, a beauty product distributor, P200,000.
Mendez explained that the female suspect planned the execution of the victim along with the gunman, with whom she formerly had a romantic relationship. The gunman and the victim were friends for over a year, and the victim had been persistently demanding payment of the debt.
Setup and Shooting
According to Mendez, the female suspect lured the victim by claiming she was not at her condominium in Clark but at a house in Magalang. The gunman, referred to as Jao, and the victim went together to Magalang. On the way, they picked up another person. Upon arriving at an apartment in Magalang, Jao shot the victim from the driver's side of the car. The victim was driving, while the suspect was in the passenger seat.
After the shooting, the gunman dropped off the female suspect and drove to Nueva Ecija, where he abandoned the vehicle with the victim's body inside. The firearm used in the killing was recovered from the gunman.
Charges Filed
The two suspects have been charged with murder. The investigation continues as authorities work to build a solid case against them.
