Police Colonel Ricky Sumalde, officer-in-charge of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), has refrained from reshuffling his station commanders and special unit heads after one week in his post. He stated that he is currently evaluating the performance of his personnel, while continuing the programs initiated by previous chiefs, which he described as effective in maintaining peace and order in the city.
Evaluation and Continuity of Programs
Sumalde emphasized that he is taking a measured approach, assessing each unit's performance before making any changes. He praised the ongoing law enforcement operations, anti-criminality campaigns, and police visibility initiatives, which he intends to strengthen further. The CCPO aims to increase beat patrol personnel to ensure a more constant police presence on the streets.
Focus on School Security
In line with the directive from Police Brigadier General Arnold Abad, chief of the Police Regional Office 7, Sumalde has prioritized security in the city's schools. He has tasked his personnel to coordinate with university and school administrators, especially as college classes are scheduled to resume next month. This proactive measure aims to ensure a safe learning environment for students.
Sumalde's leadership marks a commitment to continuity and evaluation, ensuring that the CCPO remains responsive to the city's security needs while adapting to new challenges.
