Apolinar's teammates from the Zip-Sanman Wellness Center in Cebu City also posted favorable results. Alex Santisima Jr. stopped Japan-based Filipino Richard Pumicpic in the first round. Santisima Jr. now holds a record of 13-2 with seven knockouts, while Pumicpic fell to 23-16-3 with seven knockouts.
Kiyoto Narukami, a Japanese boxer based in Cebu, halted Ryoto Maekawa in the fourth round. Narukami improved to 6-2-1 with three knockouts, while Maekawa dropped to 12-5-1 with eight knockouts.
Retirement Announcement
After his fight, Narukami, 23, formally announced his retirement from boxing on social media. He had been living and training in Cebu.
