In a significant crackdown on agricultural smuggling, government operatives intercepted a massive shipment of undocumented frozen chicken meat worth millions of pesos during a raid in Lapu-Lapu City.
The Bureau of Customs (BOC), in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard and other law enforcement agencies, conducted the operation at the Mactan Economic Zone, where they discovered approximately 4,000 kilograms of imported chicken products without proper documentation.
Massive Contraband Operation Uncovered
According to official reports, the contraband was stored in a warehouse facility, carefully concealed among legitimate shipments. The frozen poultry products, believed to have been smuggled into the country, lacked the required import permits and sanitary certificates from relevant government agencies.
