A 29-year-old man was arrested on Monday, May 25, 2026, after he allegedly stole pickleball paddles from a sports store in Cebu Business Park. The incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m., according to police reports.
Suspect Apprehended
The suspect, identified only as alias Vic, a resident of Barangay Basak San Nicolas, was taken into custody and brought to the Mabolo Police Station for processing.
How the Theft Unfolded
Based on police investigation, the suspect entered a sports store and began examining pickleball paddles. While the store staff was not watching, he took two paddles and concealed them inside his backpack. He then attempted to leave the store without paying.
However, a mall security guard observed the suspect carrying the items and confronted him. It was later confirmed that the paddles had not been paid for. The total value of the stolen items amounted to P5,180.
The suspect is now facing charges related to theft. Authorities continue to remind the public to remain vigilant and respect store policies.
