Travex 2026 Kicks Off in Lapu-Lapu City with Strong ASEAN Participation

The ASEAN Travel Exchange (Travex) 2026 officially opened on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Mactan Expo Center in Lapu-Lapu City, marking a significant event in the region's tourism calendar. Approximately 600 participants, including foreign buyers and local sellers, converged for this premier travel trade exchange, setting the stage for enhanced collaboration across Southeast Asia.

Diverse Participation from Across the Globe

Of the total attendees, 271 buyers hailed from 50 different countries, showcasing the global interest in ASEAN's tourism offerings. They were joined by 124 sellers and 222 exhibitors, all engaging in the three-day event designed to foster business connections and market expansion. This diverse mix underscores the event's role as a critical hub for the travel industry.

Leadership and Shared Vision for ASEAN Tourism

The opening ceremony was spearheaded by Philippine Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, who emphasized the collective goal of promoting ASEAN as a unified tourism destination. She was accompanied by key figures such as Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, Eddy Krismeidi, and Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles, along with tourism officials from ASEAN member states and local leaders. Their presence highlighted a shared commitment to attracting more travelers to the region through coordinated efforts.

Travex 2026 features a wide array of participants, including tourism businesses, tour operators, destination marketers, and buyers from across ASEAN. Participating countries span the region, with representation from the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and the bloc's newest member, Timor-Leste. Philippine exhibitors encompass various sectors, such as:
