The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that two major weather systems will continue to influence conditions across the archipelago on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
Weather Systems in Effect
In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the state weather bureau identified the easterlies and the northeast monsoon, locally known as 'amihan', as the dominant forces shaping the day's weather. These systems are expected to bring varied conditions from rain showers to gusty winds in different regions.
Forecast for Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan
The easterlies will be the primary influence over the eastern sections of the country. Residents in the Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan should prepare for partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or possible thunderstorms. While not widespread, these isolated rains can be sudden and occasionally heavy.
Amihan Impact Over Luzon
Meanwhile, the cool northeast monsoon is affecting Luzon. Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, and Apayao will experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the amihan. For Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, the weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light rains.
Marine and Wind Conditions
The amihan is also responsible for stirring up coastal waters. Rough seas and strong winds are forecast for the coastal areas of Northern Luzon, posing potential risks to small seacraft. The rest of Luzon and the eastern sections of the Visayas will have moderate to strong winds accompanying moderate to rough seas.
For the rest of the Philippine archipelago, conditions will be milder. These areas can expect light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas, making maritime travel generally safer.
The public, especially those in affected areas and fisherfolk, are advised to monitor updates from PAGASA and take necessary precautions against the anticipated weather conditions and sea turbulence.
