Pagasa: No Storms Until New Year, Fair Weather to Continue
Pagasa: Fair Weather to Continue Through New Year

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has given Filipinos a welcome weather update as the year ends. The state weather bureau reported that no weather disturbance is being monitored as of Friday, December 27, 2025, and generally fair conditions are expected to persist through the first week of January.

Stable Conditions for Holiday Celebrations

Pagasa Weather Specialist Ana Dumdum delivered the positive news, stating that the latest analysis shows stable atmospheric conditions across the entire country. This favorable outlook includes the crucial New Year period. Dumdum explicitly confirmed that there is no existing low-pressure area (LPA) currently being tracked that could intensify into a tropical cyclone.

"Based on our latest analysis, weather conditions are expected to remain generally favorable until the first week of January, including the New Year," Dumdum said. She emphasized that while there is no immediate threat of storm formation, the agency's monitoring remains vigilant for any potential development later in the month or beyond the first week of January.

Rain Still Possible from Easterlies

Despite the overall fair weather prediction, Pagasa clarified that the archipelago will not experience completely dry conditions. Dumdum explained that localized thunderstorms may still occur in various areas due to the influence of prevailing easterlies.

Easterlies are warm winds originating from the Pacific Ocean. These winds can bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, particularly during the afternoon or evening hours. "We are not expecting totally dry conditions," Dumdum noted. "Localized thunderstorms are still possible, and easterlies may affect some parts of the country."

Public Advisory and Precautions

Given the possibility of sudden downpours from thunderstorms, Pagasa continues to advise the public to exercise caution. Dumdum reminded residents to stay prepared by carrying umbrellas and taking necessary precautions when rain occurs to stay dry.

The weather specialist underscored the importance of relying on official sources for information. "So far, the overall weather situation is favorable, but people should still stay alert and informed," she stated. Pagasa urges everyone to monitor its official advisories and forecasts, as weather conditions can still change in the coming weeks.

In summary, while the forecast allows for more secure holiday planning, Filipinos are encouraged to remain weather-wise as the new year begins.
