PAGASA Issues Weather Advisory: Warm, Humid Conditions with Afternoon Thunderstorms Expected Nationwide

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has announced that warm and humid weather will dominate the country on Monday, accompanied by localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio emphasized that these conditions are particularly pronounced during midday hours, urging the public to take necessary precautions.

No Weather Disturbances Currently Monitored

According to PAGASA, no weather disturbances are being tracked inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility at this time. This provides a temporary respite from tropical cyclones, though the agency continues to monitor atmospheric patterns closely.

Regional Weather Patterns for the Coming Days

Aurelio detailed that over the next two to three days, the easterlies will persist in affecting the Visayas and Mindanao regions. Meanwhile, Northern Luzon will remain under the influence of the ridge of a high-pressure area, contributing to stable but warm conditions in that part of the country.

Temperature and Heat Index Forecasts

PAGASA has projected the highest actual temperature of 36°C in Tuguegarao, with Davao and Zamboanga expecting up to 34°C on Monday. The heat index, which measures the perceived temperature when humidity combines with air temperature, is forecast to peak at 40°C in several locations:

  • San Jose, Occidental Mindoro
  • Dagupan City, Pangasinan
  • La Granja, La Carlota, Negros Occidental
  • Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur

In Metro Manila, the heat index could reach between 36°C to 37°C, indicating uncomfortable conditions for residents and visitors alike.

Wind and Sea Conditions

Across the archipelago, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are expected to prevail. This forecast suggests generally calm maritime conditions, though localized thunderstorms may bring temporary changes in specific areas.

PAGASA advises the public to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and monitor updates for any sudden weather changes, especially during thunderstorm activity.
