The body of a 45-year-old e-bike driver was discovered floating in the waters of Larawan Public Beach in Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City, on the afternoon of Thursday, April 9, 2026. The deceased has been identified by his family as Roldan Bucao, a single man and a Person with Disability (PWD) residing in Sityo Tiago, Barangay San Isidro, within the same city.
Investigation Reveals Last Known Movements
According to the ongoing investigation, Bucao was last seen alive on Wednesday morning, April 8, 2026, at approximately 8:00 AM. He was observed walking alone towards Barangay Dumlog. His older brother, Ramil Bucao, provided crucial details to authorities, explaining that it was a common habit for his younger sibling to travel in the morning without informing anyone and return home only in the evening.
Family's Desperate Search and Tragic Discovery
Ramil Bucao further disclosed that when the family attempted to contact Roldan later that day, he did not respond to their calls. This prompted them to seek assistance from the local police, initiating an extensive search throughout the entire night. The family's worst fears were confirmed the following day when they learned through social media posts that a lifeless male body had been found floating in the sea near the public beach.
The family strongly suspects that the victim went for a swim in the ocean and tragically drowned. They attribute this to his difficulty in swimming, a condition exacerbated by a previous mild stroke he had suffered. This medical history likely impaired his ability to stay afloat or handle the ocean currents safely.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident. The local community has expressed shock and sympathy, highlighting concerns for the safety of individuals with disabilities in coastal areas.
