Shear Line, Easterlies, and Northeast Monsoon Bring Widespread Rains Across Philippines
Shear Line, Easterlies, Northeast Monsoon Bring Rains to Philippines

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a weather bulletin indicating that the shear line, northeast monsoon, and easterlies will persist in bringing rainfall to various parts of the country. This combination of weather systems is expected to result in scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms across multiple regions, raising concerns for potential flash floods and landslides.

Shear Line Impacts Luzon Regions

In its latest 4 a.m. update, PAGASA reported that the shear line is affecting several provinces in Luzon. Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, and Camarines Norte are forecast to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms. Residents in these areas should remain vigilant as moderate to heavy rains could lead to dangerous conditions.

Easterlies Bring Rain to Mindanao and Other Areas

Meanwhile, the easterlies are expected to cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Sarangani, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi. PAGASA has issued a warning that flash floods or landslides may occur in these regions due to the intensity of the precipitation. The weather bureau advises the public to take necessary precautions and stay updated on local advisories.

Northeast Monsoon Effects on Northern Luzon

On the other hand, the northeast monsoon will bring isolated light rains to Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte. While these areas are not expected to face severe weather, the persistent rains could still impact daily activities and agricultural operations.

Metro Manila and Rest of the Country

Metro Manila and the remaining parts of the Philippines will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also influenced by the easterlies. This weather pattern suggests a mix of sun and rain, which may affect travel and outdoor events.

Wind and Sea Conditions

In terms of maritime conditions, moderate winds and moderate seas are forecast to prevail over Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and the Visayas. The rest of the archipelago will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas. Boaters and fishermen are advised to exercise caution and check weather updates before venturing out.

PAGASA continues to monitor the situation closely and urges the public to stay informed through official channels. The agency emphasizes the importance of preparedness, especially in flood-prone and landslide-susceptible areas, to mitigate risks associated with the ongoing weather disturbances.
