TEAM Camp Concludes 35th Batch Cultural Immersion in Cebu City
The TEAM Camp has successfully completed its 35th batch cultural immersion program in Cebu City, marking a significant milestone in fostering global perspectives, English communication skills, and active community participation among its participants. This seven-week initiative, which has been running since 2008, integrates English language learning, cross-cultural interactions, and community service to provide a deep and meaningful experience for all involved.
Program Highlights and Participant Demographics
Most participants in this batch were students and professionals from Korea, who joined not only to improve their English language abilities but also to immerse themselves in the authentic lifestyle and culture of another country. The program's structure emphasizes practical learning through real-world engagement, making it a transformative journey for attendees.
One of the standout events during the immersion was the participants' involvement in the Sinulog Festival. Here, they experienced local traditions and celebrations firsthand, gaining insights into Filipino cultural heritage. Additionally, they learned traditional Filipino songs and dances, which they showcased in a school performance as a tribute to their host community. According to organizers, these activities significantly boosted participants' confidence and global awareness.
Community Service and Cultural Exchange Initiatives
Community service played a crucial role in the program, with campers organizing a Flea Market for a Cause and conducting outreach activities in Soong, Mactan. These efforts allowed participants to better understand community conditions and the value of voluntary service, fostering empathy and social responsibility while learning practical ways to contribute.
Cultural exchange was further strengthened through a Korean cultural storytelling program held in collaboration with the Marie Ernestine School. This activity served as a platform for Filipino and Korean students to share stories, leading to the establishment of genuine friendships across different cultures.
Leadership and Program Mission
For 28 years, the program has been led by Program Director Tina Han, CEO of the Hokkomslow Lifelong Learning Support Center based in Jeju, with program coordinators Peng Toledo and Raydyl Gillado. The TEAM Camp continues its mission of providing value-based education, service, and cultural immersion for international students.
Through its strong focus on culture, education, and service, the TEAM Camp has proven effective in shaping individuals who are not only skilled communicators but also responsible members of the global community.
