Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian has issued crucial reminders to transport network companies (TNCs) ahead of the scheduled distribution of cash relief assistance (CRA) for public transport drivers and motorists. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) emphasized the need for strict adherence to coordination protocols and proper scheduling to ensure a smooth payout process.
Key Requirements for TNCs and Beneficiaries
According to Secretary Gatchalian, both TNCs and cash assistance beneficiaries must comply with the implementation of rigorous coordination measures and follow the designated schedule for receiving CRA. He stressed that this approach is essential to prevent operational disruptions and ensure timely support reaches those in need.
Additionally, Gatchalian recommended thorough verification of the masterlist of beneficiaries to avoid overcrowding and potential delays on payout day. This step aims to streamline the distribution process and minimize logistical challenges.
Multi-Agency Meeting at DSWD Central Office
Gatchalian made these statements during a meeting at the DSWD Central Office, which was attended by key officials from the department, representatives from partner agencies including the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), as well as representatives from various transport companies.
The secretary urged TNCs to assign dedicated personnel to establish help desks that can provide assistance to drivers on payout days. These help desks are intended to offer support and address any issues that may arise during the distribution process.
Prohibition on Recruitment Booths at Payout Sites
Meanwhile, Gatchalian appealed to TNCs to refrain from setting up recruitment booths at designated payout sites. This measure is designed to prevent late submissions of complete driver lists and maintain focus on the cash aid distribution without additional distractions.
The guidelines underscore the DSWD's commitment to efficient and orderly implementation of the cash relief assistance program, ensuring that support reaches eligible drivers promptly and effectively.
