In a significant anti-drug operation, operatives from the Batad Municipal Police Station (MPS), in coordination with the Provincial Drug Enforcement Team (PDET) 3, conducted a successful buy-bust operation in Barangay Batad Viejo, Batad, Iloilo, on the evening of February 19, 2026. The operation led to the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of a substantial quantity of illegal drugs and a firearm.
Details of the Arrest and Seizure
The operation took place at approximately 11:30 p.m., resulting in the apprehension of two individuals identified as alias Pango, classified as a high-value individual (HVI), and a 16-year-old minor, categorized as a street-value individual (SVI). Both suspects are residents of Batad, Iloilo.
During the operation, law enforcement officers confiscated five heat-sealed plastic sachets containing a total of 65 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P442,000. In addition to the drugs, authorities seized a .38 caliber revolver, three rounds of live ammunition, and various non-drug items from the suspects.
Legal Actions and Custody
Following the arrest, separate legal measures are being pursued. Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6, announced that police will file a charge for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, against alias Pango.
Pango is currently detained in the custody of the Batad MPS, while the minor suspect was turned over to the Batad Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (BMSDO). This transfer is in compliance with juvenile justice laws, ensuring appropriate intervention and handling for the underage individual.
