In a significant development for women in local governance, Danao City Vice Mayor Ivy Durano has been elected as the new president of the Lady Local Legislators League of the Philippines Cebu Chapter. The election took place on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at a hotel in Mandaue City, marking a pivotal moment for female legislators across the province.
Unanimous Election and Leadership Team
Durano was nominated by her fellow women legislators from throughout Cebu Province and the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu, with no opposition, securing her position through a unanimous vote. This organization comprises female lawmakers, including councilors from municipalities, cities, and barangays, as well as vice mayors and captains, highlighting its broad representation.
