This arrest follows an incident where the suspect stole cellular phones on Monday, February 23, 2026, in Brookside Valley, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

Suspect Identified and Incident Details

The suspect has been identified as John Don Miano, a 30-year-old resident of the same area. According to an investigation conducted by the Mabolo Police Station, a 27-year-old man, known only by the alias "Jofel," filed a complaint after discovering that his iPhone 13 Pro Max valued at P35,000, a Samsung phone worth P5,000, and an unspecified amount of cash were missing from his room.

CCTV Footage and Arrest

Upon reviewing the victim's CCTV camera footage, authorities observed a man entering the house through a window and taking the items. The victim promptly sought assistance from Police Patrolman Jefferson Lamasa, a member of the Labangon Police Station who was renting in the vicinity. After viewing the CCTV video, the suspect was immediately recognized as a neighbor.

Patrolman Lamasa swiftly apprehended the suspect and escorted him to the Mabolo Police Station along with the victim. Despite the clear depiction of his appearance in the CCTV footage, Miano vehemently denied the allegations and refused to acknowledge that he was the individual captured in the video.
